When do we disclose data?

We may share your data with our service providers to operate our services (e.g., storing data via third-party hosting services, providing technical support, etc.).

We may also disclose your data under the following circumstances: (i) to investigate, detect, prevent, or take action against illegal activities or other misconduct; (ii) to establish or exercise our rights of defense; (iii) to protect our rights, property, or personal safety, as well as the safety of our users or the public; (iv) in the event of a change of control of us or any of our affiliates (through merger, acquisition, or purchase of (substantially) all assets, among others); (v) to collect, hold, and/or manage your data through authorized third-party providers (e.g., cloud service providers), to the extent reasonable for business purposes; (vi) to collaborate with third-party providers to improve your user experience. What data is collected when you use our website?

For technical reasons, certain data is collected each time our website is used and temporarily stored in log files (log data), primarily the IP address of the end device, information about the internet service provider and the operating system of your end device, information about the referring URL, information about the browser used, date and time of access, and content accessed during the website visit.

Our website also uses cookies, i.e., files that your browser automatically stores on your end device. This allows us to distinguish individual visitors, usually without identifying them. Cookies can also contain information about pages visited and the duration of the visit. Certain cookies (“session cookies”) are deleted when the browser is closed. Others (“persistent cookies”) remain stored for a certain period so that we can recognize visitors on a subsequent visit. We may also use other technologies, e.g., for storing data in the browser, but also for recognition, e.g., pixel tags or fingerprints. Pixel tags are invisible images or program code loaded from a server, thereby providing certain information. Fingerprints are information about the configuration of your end device that makes your end device distinguishable from other devices.

We use log data and data collected via cookies and similar technologies to enable the use of our website, to ensure system security and stability, and to optimize our website and for statistical purposes. Cookies and other technologies may also originate from third-party companies that provide us with certain functions. Further information can be found below.

You can configure your browser settings to block certain cookies or similar technologies, or to delete cookies and other stored data. You can find more information on this in your browser’s help pages (usually under the keyword “Privacy”).

How do our service providers process data for our website?

Cookies and similar technologies from third-party providers enable them to create analyses and evaluations for us, so that we can understand the use of our website and optimize our online offering. In addition, these third-party providers can target you with individualized advertising on websites and social networks operated by these third parties or their partners, and measure the effectiveness of advertisements (e.g., whether you reached our website via an advertisement and what actions you then perform on our website). The respective third-party providers can record website usage for this purpose and combine their records with further information from other websites. This allows them to record user behavior across multiple websites and devices to provide us with statistical evaluations on this basis. These providers can also use this information for their own purposes, e.g., for personalized advertising on their own website or other websites. If a user is registered with the provider, the provider can assign the usage data to the person concerned.

An example of our service providers is Google. Further information can be found below. We may also use other third-party providers who generally process personal and other data in a similar manner.

[We use Google Analytics on our website, an analytics service provided by Google LLC (Mountain View, USA) and Google Ireland Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland). Google collects certain information about user behavior on the website and about the end device used. The IP addresses of visitors are shortened in Europe before being forwarded to the USA. Google provides us with evaluations based on the recorded data, but also processes certain data for its own purposes. Information on Google Analytics data protection can be found here, and if you have a Google account yourself, you can find further information here.]

The hosting service for our websites provides us with the online platform through which we can offer you our services. Your data may be stored via the data storage, databases, and general applications of our hosting provider. It stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall and offers secure HTTPS access to most areas of its services.

How do we protect your data?

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security for your personal data commensurate with the respective risk. Notwithstanding the measures and efforts taken by us and our hosting provider, we cannot and will not guarantee absolute protection and security of the data you upload, publish, or otherwise share with us or others.

For this reason, we ask you to set secure passwords and, if possible, not to transmit confidential information to us or others whose disclosure you believe could cause you significant or lasting harm. Since email and instant messaging are not considered secure forms of communication, we also ask you not to share confidential information via any of these communication channels.

Your data will be processed at least partially outside the EU or the EEA, namely in Switzerland, the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel. The adequate level of protection results from an adequacy decision of the European Commission pursuant to Art 45 GDPR.

What are your rights?

You generally have the rights to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. To exercise these rights, please contact us. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been infringed in any way, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. In Austria, the Data Protection Authority is responsible; in Switzerland, it is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
